do I need previous experience?

No. The operation of Turquoise is very simple and if everyone pitches in one thing or another, you are only entrusted tasks suited to your skills. If you have experience in sailing and want to practice your skills, great , but if not, nothing happens. Our philosophy is that everyone cooperate in what they do the best .

can I feel sick?

Everyone can get dizzy at some point, especially at first by the novelty of the medium. However, our experience tells us all these years, in the interior of the rias, not having just swell or waves, it is really hard to get anyone dizzy. In any case, if in doubt, it is best to take one or two biodraminas preventively..

what should I wear?

Obviously, it depends on the time of year, but as a general rule as little as possible (the space in a ship, even one like ours, is always short). However, taking into account the variability of weather in Galicia, a light raincoat and a warm sweater or a jacket upholstery, especially for the night, are highly recommended.

what kind of shoes should I wear?

PLEASE, nautical type shoes or rubber soled white or clear (white rubber shoes or light is also ok; black-marking soles, not ), and antiskid. It is important to remember this. If you forget it, you will have to go barefoot.

what other things should I take?

We insist that sailboats space is a scarce commodity. Try to bring only the essentials. What is essential? Desire to enjoy the wind, sun ... and above all very calm and sense of humor, plus your personal toiletries, bath towels and beach.

can I take a trolley?

No. In the vessels there is no space to store rigid suitcases and inside the ship there can not be anything that is not properly loaded or secured. Rigid trolleys are not allowed . You MUST use a flexible bag.

can we eat onboard?

Of course. "Turquesa" has a spacious refrigerator, plus a small kitchen with two burners and gas oven where we can prepare meals. On day trips, for lunch, it is common that customers bring their own food. Ideally are salads, sandwiches, cold dishes, tortillas, cans, etc.. By voyages of several days, for lunch this is also worth. For dinner, if we anchor we can cook simple pasta or rice dishes, and if we are in port we can go ashore for dinner.

can we drink alcohol onboard?

Sparingly and only when the ship is at anchor or moored. It should be noted that excessive consumption of alcohol in a boat is an element of risk to the safety of persons on board. If any person contravening this rule and, according to the captain, were to appear in state bordering on intoxication, will be invited to disembark immediately.

can we consume other drugs onboard?

No.

where will we stay at nights?

By voyages of several days we have two options: the first, tying in a commercial marina or dock; the second anchoring in a sheltered cove or bay and spend the night at anchor. As always, flexibility is the norm and we adapt easily to what our customers prefer.

should I take bed linen or a sleeping bag?

No. The cabins have duvets and pillows with their covers, but only to the voyages of two or more days in which we overnight onboard. It is not allowed to use the cabins by day-trips, or short sails.

what other extra expenses should I take into consideration?

By day trips the only extra expense that we must foresee is the extra consumption of diesel, and this just in case we had not wind, and decided to motor sail. Remember that the fuel consumption of motor an hour a day is included, and is sufficient to enter and leave port. By voyages of several days, it is usual to create a fund the first day wich pays for the food and drink purchased for the boat (especially breakfast and lunch), extra fuel consumption, and costs of moorings in marinas.

how much is the fuel cost?

The consumption of motor cruising-speed is about 4 liters of diesel per hour, and distance is about 5 nautical miles (9 kilometers inland). To give an example, navigate to Cíes from Vigo and back would be just under four hours of engine, ie on 15 liters of diesel. Even then, the first hour of engine would be included in the price.

how much is the extra expenses of marina fees?

Each port sets its own rates, of course, some are more expensive and others cheaper. On average, for a ship like the Turquoise in high season, we estimate between 25 and 35 euros per night/boat.

can I use electrical devices onboard?

When we moored in a marina the boat is equipped with electricity outlets at 220 volts. However, when we sail or at anchor is only possible using the electrical circuit of the boat itself is 12 volts. If you need to charge phones or cameras is advisable that you bring a 12 volt charger plug "car-burner" type.

is there warm water onboard?

Yes, there is hot water in both bathrooms, the kitchen faucet and the shower outside on the balcony at the stern.

what happens if the weather is not fine?

For us, safety comes first, therefore, if the forecast the day of the output is of high winds (greater than force 7), or persistent heavy rains in the navigation area, we would cancel the planned activities. On day trips, we would pay back the total of the amounts charged for that day. On the routes of two or more days, and once started the voyage, if the conditions of wind or sea, according to the captain, would advise a change in route or a stay in port or sheltered until there is a weather improvement, these circumstances will not give rise to a claim, reinstatement or compensation.
